Open database with failover

We have "Applications widget" (bookmarks) for users to get to there DBs. User end of this application is built in XPages and the db replicates locally to users data directory.

Issue is that the links are not cluster aware. I would like the link to detect if the main server is down go look for replica cluster. (like openwithfailover method in script)

Is there a way to do this in XPages?
